agree with what the person

agree with what the person that was talking about the child and the way our country lets people freeload on the money that we put into SS. You obviously are touchy, because you are one of the freeloaders yourself. I have a lot of illnesses and have never freeloaded off of my government. I even had lukemia and struggle to this day with depression, but I stuggle to make ends meet. I certainly don't want to go to my grave, knowing I took from the elderly funds in this country. I hate, when I am seeing it being done also. It is so unfair, that so many people have worked their whole lives and there may not be a retirement for them when they grow old. I have worked my entire life and when I see a person that is in special education drawing from elderly money as a child, when the parents should be taking care of them, just like any other parent has to, it pisses me off. I am raising my grandchildren and have been for a long time, one is handicapped in special ed. classes himself. I can not even get ad for the children that are not mine. The government has cut of any funds for us, (which was only 279.00 a month, (by-the-way), for two kids) through social services. No more non-needy relatives are getting help to raise kids that have been dropped in their laps. When you are raising someone elses kids and get nothing, why should someone get something for raising their own. Boy, put them in some of these crappy foster homes that do it for the money and they get paid a fortune. When people drawl out on our SS funds for stupid things like special education. It will leave us with not enough funds, for our so called Golden years, (which let me tell you, are not so golden). Most of us are just waiting to die and get this crap over with. This country is getting worse and worse. Frankly, I do not even want to be around much longer to see where these stupid _ _ _ _ _ end us up.

I know an eight year old

I know an eight year old child who receives $400 a month. He's in a special education class, but seems to be fine otherwise. He'll get that money for the rest of his life, too. Its becoming almost like a reward system to find something wrong with your child today. Why does an eight year old child need a paycheck anyway? It must be nice. Ahh yes, I did forget to mention that my seventy year old grandfather still has to work to pay for all of his medication. Is that just? This is becoming all to common in today's America.

America, why don't we focus most of our Social Security resources on those who have paid into it for all their lives -- the elderly!

That's like saying depressed

That's like saying depressed people can't have a good day or you'll take away their benefits. Who are the freeloaders? Are you receiving benefits? Should people able to type not be eligible because they can sit at a computer and type? Lots of jobs out there for typists.

Why would you ask for money?

Why would you ask for money? There are resourses out there in any community that can help you. Ask any church denomination, homeless shelters, Goodwill, St. Vincent. I don't know who you are? If you need help you need to give more information; you could be a scam.

You can't have it both ways.

You can't have it both ways. You can't get rid of 'freeloaders' and make it easier to qualify. Getting rid of 'freeloaders' will have to mean making it even more difficult to qualify so that the 'freeloaders' never qualify.

So a person who has a severe mental illness is not able to wash their car? In order to qualify under a mental illness diagnosis, a person would have to be so catatonic that they could not wash a car? That sounds like a pretty strict definition, much stricter than SSA already has.

True that a judge does not live in your body and doesn't know what you feel. Who is then supposed to decide if you are disabled? Should it be based on what YOU say and nothing else? There has to be some substantial objective medical evidence to back up what you say. What about the person who is stoic and works through the pain, are they less disabled than the person who has less severe injuries but who complains about every little ache and pain? Making a decision based on what an individual perceives as pain would mean complainers get paid more often than people who suck it up and deal with it.

My opinion? More SSA staff to do the work. More reviews of current beneficiaries - it should not be entitlement for life. More requirements to follow treating doctor's advice if it would improve functioning. Total revamp of work incentives.
