Social Security Stimulus Check – Frequently Asked Questions 2/2

Will the Social Security stimulus check count as gross income for federal income tax purposes?

No, it will not.

What must I do to receive my Social Security stimulus payment?

No action is necessary. The Social Security Administration has all the information they need to get your payment to you.

Will I receive a stimulus check if I have a delinquent federal debt?

It depends. The Treasury Department will offset the checks to collect delinquent child support and debts owed to state and federal agencies. On the other hand, the one-time payment will not be used to collect Social Security or SSI benefit overpayments.

If I don’t receive my Social Security stimulus check payment by the first week of June, what should I do?

After June 4, 2009, you may contact your local Social Security office or call their toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 to tell them your payment has not arrived. Please wait until then to ask about your payment because earlier calls may slow down the service.

Will the one-time Social Security stimulus check change the amount or delivery date of my regular Social Security or SSI benefit?

No, the one-time payment will have NO effect on your regular Social Security or SSI benefit. The SSA will deliver the one-time payment separately from your regular benefit.

Will the $250 stimulus check count as income for SSI?

No, it will not.

If I have a representative payee, who will receive my Social Security stimulus check?

If you have a representative payee, the SSA will deliver your one-time payment to your representative payee. Your representative payee is required by law to use the payment for your benefit.

Will the stimulus payment count as a resource for SSI?

The payment will not count as a resource in the month you receive it or the following 9 months. For example, if you receive the one-time payment in May 2009, it would not count as a resource from May 2009 through February 2010. If you still have this money after February 2010, it will be counted as a resource starting in March 2010.

If I receive Social Security or SSI and also get Veterans or Railroad Retirement benefits, who decides whether I get an economic recovery payment?

If you receive benefits from Social Security and Veterans or Railroad Retirement benefits, Social Security will determine if you are entitled to the payment. Remember, you will receive only one payment regardless of how many different benefits you currently receive.

I understand that the $250 one time economic stimulus payment will be issued the same way you currently receive your SSA benefits and will be a separate payment from your regular benefits. I also understand that the payment is expected to be issued during the month of May.

Will the payment come on the same date as your regular benefits?

For example, my husband’s birthday is on the 26th, so his regular benefits come on the 4th Wednesday of the month (5/17). Will his one-time $250 payment also come on the 4th Wednesday of May as well?

  4. Liz on May 1st, 2009 1:22 pm

Sorry, the 4th Wednesday is 5/27 not 5/17.

    My response:

If you can’t spell and use grammar correctly you should be in school and not worrying about the money.

Hi, I was reading some of the questions. I went to the ssa.gov website and clicked on the one time payment banner then under the frequently asked questions where it says more information about the social security and the recovery act, I cli ked on that and opened the weekly report dated 5/8/2009. It says cycle two payments will be sent on 5/14/2009 then ssi payments will be made on 5/18/2009 and then cycle four payments will be made 5/28/2009. These are schedule and can be changed if the payments do not get certified in time. because it says on each one that they have to be certified by a certain date.

Hope this information helps, It doesn’t say how they are determining wich cycle people are on, but it does tell you what dates to be watching for, I would love to know if this answer was right or not.

After reading through this, I decided to check my bank again. My dd is not there but after investigating farther, it is there. The direct deposit is at the bank but not available until Monday.

If you are still waiting, check it on Monday.

This is a lie. If you have a debt to the government(including 7 year old DMV debts), they WILL take you entire check from you, despite what anyone representing Social Security may say. They tell you you are guaranteed to get the money, and you don’t have to do anything. Now I am screwed thanks to this half-truth. I guess fattening the Motor Vehicle Association’s pockets is more important than a disabled person eating.

What SS isn’t telling you is that the Federal Case Registry is secreting an Initiating State’s Letter of Transmittal – Sheet # 1 Requesting Federal Particpation in the collection of these supposed debt / obligations usually associated with child support. However, it has been discoverd by an accountant that Fraud in the procurement of jurisdiction, and sometimes long-arm jurisdiction is being invoked by perjury and fraud by false written declaration and sworn affirmation. The FCR has secreted the information from paying parents, so that Congress won’t find out that they allowed the fraud and perjury by passing revisions to the Deadbeat Dad’s Punishment Act. That way the hatred for father’s and financial ruin can continue without interruption. The Office of the Inspector General placed on the addendum a full page of concerns to be addressed by Congress. Concerns that violate the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Thirteenth & Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution that inhibited their collection efforts. The Administrative Law Judge in charge of SS shuld be tried for TREASON and thrown out of the Counrty, any Judges,Lawyers or any othr Court Official (officers of the court) who support this should be tried in a Criminal Complaint and Indicted given the maximum. There are two cases before the Southern Disrict Court right now each for $50,000,000.00 where these BIAS & PREJUDICE, bigots didn’t allow a disabled father appointment of an attorney ad litem by the Children & Families Adult Protection Division, sent the Father to jail, while they put his 17 year old son in a County / Foster home without an appointment of a guardian Ad litem, then put the father in jail a second time for the same charge (which constitutes double jeopardy)for a VOID order procured by fraud in the State of Montana. The biggest mistake the Assistant Attorney General of Florida David George Taylor made was blocking this father’s Federal Probation Officer from testifying twice as a defense in his trial, and then letting me find out about it…Four of the Judgesinthe Tenth Judicial Ciscuit in Sarasota County, Florida resigned before the U.S. Marshall could serve them. It’s only a matter of time though, Justice will eventually be served and those held responsible will get what they deserve.

In the previous post. This issue involves interstate cases that may or may not be properly classified under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act (1975). I’ve discovered that they will apply any choice of laws doctrine to get you. They will use Interstate remedies in Intrastate cases utilizing U.I.F.S.A. / U.R.E.S.A. forms and procedures. Legal or not anything to scam you into an Administrative hearing. Taking away your FOOD STAMPS, License, etc.etc. The list goes on and on. Remember a State’s Attoreny runs interference for the Department of Revenue. Fraud in the Inducement of jurisdiction is something they can and do hide from public scrutiny. Don’t believe anything they say. Its all lies. Lawyers are Liars and are engaged in the twisting of terms kown as semantics, Theft by Deception is accomplished with the aid of the Courts acting in complicity to cover up the criminal acts of all involved.
